Jones had recorded several gospel albums by this point, his first being ''Country Church Time'' on Mercury Records in 1959. ''We Love To Sing About Jesus'' would be one of three albums the couple would release in 1972 and peaked at number 38 on the ''Billboard'' country albums chart. Most of the material on the album came from Earl "Peanut" Montgomery, one of Jones's favorite writers. Wynette also co-wrote two songs with Montgomery for the collection.
